Three Guildford authors have proved they are a cut above the rest after being selected to take part in a project in conjunction with Southern Counties Radio and The Arts Council.

Irene Black from Merrow, Anne Brooke from Godalming, and Jacquelynn Luben from Pirbright were among the 25 entrants shortlisted to write stories to be read aloud on the radio. The authors were given “life” as inspiration for the tales and had individual coaching sessions with Carole Hayman – the BBC Southern Counties’ writer in residence.

Each story was then recorded by actors or the writers themselves. The authors said they were delighted to be selected and looked forward to hearing their stories on air.

“I have written non-fiction books in the past but it is nice to be appreciated for writing fiction,” said Jacquelynn.

All three authors, from Goldenford Publishers, also have novels on sale, including "The Moon’s Complexion", "A Bottle of Plonk" and "Pink Champagne and Apple Juice".
